06/15 • PLAIN VANILLA SOCKS • Intermediate Knitting, June 15, 29 & July 13 (2-4 pm) Saturdays$90.00
One of our favorite Japanese knit designers Hiromi Nagasawa just released this new pattern PLAIN VANILLA SOCKS. It's her version of the perfect, basic socks. "Basic" might be a relative term here. PLAIN VANILLA SOCK is knitted toe up with magic loop method. Minimal configuration without gusset and ribbing makes the knitting done smoothly, and use of extra fine needles makes the fit of this sock fine-tuned and comfortable. Different colors can be used for toes and cuffs, along with rounds of foot and leg section. Also, by using helical stripes technique, which creates fine stripes in spirally shifting color change in a round at a time, this sock can transform hand-dyed yarn in a different intensity than the original colors. PLAIN VANILLA SOCKS’ dense stockinette stitches bring out the unique characteristics of any yarn. Enjoy designing and expressing your own taste.
Since our beloved knit teacher Jody James is traveling in Japan for most of the month of May, we felt that this class would be a fun celebration of her return to Ojai. Get ready for tales of Japan and traveling knit adventure stories in between class notes!
