Learn a fun and easy "no-sew, no-tools" technique of braided rug weaving. A satisfyingly utilitarian project to burn through your scrap pile or repurpose old clothing. You will learn how to prepare fabric for weaving, get a solid start on making your own rug and gain confidence to finish it at home. This approach is perfect for those looking to begin a low pressure, therapeutic hobby. An overview of other rag-rug techniques and histories will accompany this hands on session. All materials will be provided. This workshop is for people ages 12+.

Lindsey Fout is the Los Angeles based textile artist, designer, and teacher behind Last Chance Textiles. A native West Virginian, her rural Appalachian upbringing informs the integrity and utilitarian aspects of her work. Lindsey has taught handweaving, computer aided design and textile screen printing at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and was voted Outstanding Faculty Member in 2016 by her students. She designs, dyes and weaves in her Echo Park home to harness an experimental and physical practice that echoes the historical textile traditions that inspire her designs.

Classes and workshops can be refunded if the event is more than 5 days from the date of the refund request. Classes may be canceled within 2 days of the event if there are not enough registrations, in which case a full refund would be provided.
