We are so excited to have Janelle Pietrzak of All Roads come to Cattywampus to teach basic frame loom weaving, which is anything but basic in the wonderful world of All Roads. Janelle's sense of texture, color, and material are often inspired by the Southern California nature scenes surrounding us. You are invited to explore unusual material combinations and discover surprising relationships. Most students complete an entire weaving in the allotted class time. Once Janelle gets you going with the basics of working on a frame loom, the possibilities for a wide variety of projects opens up.

• how to warp a frame loom
• basic plain weave.
• how to use various materials to create texture in a woven piece

• wooden frame loom and tools (students get to keep loom/tools)
• screen printed All Roads tote bag to carry all supplies
• instructional booklet
• all yarn/rope/raffia supplies

TIME • 4 hours

PREREQUISITE • Fiber-loving fingers!

TEACHER • Janelle Pietrzak is a Los Angeles based textile artist and co-founder of All Roads design studio. With a history of over ten years working in the fashion industry, her textiles adapt to both functional and decorative craft. Her work is a nod to nostalgic fiber art of the mid-century, but with unique color combinations and unexpected materials influenced by the landscape around her. Through fiber, she explores varying textures and contrasting elements to create depth and richness in color. Pietrzak cover’s a wide range in her practice, from commissioned art, high end design collaborations, licensing and consulting.
