KID’S OPEN SEWING STUDIO • All Levels Sewing Group, January 16-February 13 (3-5 pm) Wednesdays$150.00
This sewing series is for kids ages 8-13 years old who have a curious passion for sewing and want to further develop their skills. In this series, each kid will select a pattern and go through making it with our fabulous sewing teacher Denise Thomas. Our intention is to empower the kids in choosing what to make and how to make it so that they become confident in doing their own projects long after this class has ended. Kids will learn to evaluate patterns, select the best fabric for the project, and how to go through the steps of making something from a written pattern.
SKILLS LEARNED •
• following a written pattern
• various sewing machine operations
MATERIALS REQUIRED •
All materials are included in the class fee; kids are welcome to bring their own sewing machine or use the Cattywampus machines.
2 hours x 5 sessions
KID SEWING 101 (or equivalent skills - basic sewing machine familiarity)
Denise Thomas is the former Home Economics teacher from Ojai's Matilija Junior High. She has a real passion for teaching and all things sewing, plus Denise is great with teaching kids and adults. Her patience and enthusiasm will have you laughing, learning, and enjoying making.
If you want to buy a new sewing machine, we love Janome. We use the HD3000 in our sewing studio.
