This is Woolfolk's idea of modern lace. An clever tilting block pattern with graduated spacing dances across this elegantly proportioned wrap; a timeless piece to layer all year.

Laene Shawl is worked in sections of tilting blocks pattern interspersed with garter stitch. The number of garter rows increases by two after each tilting blocks section, from two rows after the first section, to four, to six, all the way to thirty-six rows of garter at the end.
