In this camp kids will learn the fun of decorative hand stitching in the traditional Japanese sashiko style. Sashiko is a running stitch made with a long needle and is often introduced by following pre-printed stitch patterns on cotton fabric. Once the sashiko is done, we will incorporate that stitched fabric panel into a darling tote bag. This camp is best suited for kids 8 and older who already have some basic sewing machine familiarity. We recommend starting with SEWING CAMP 1 or our SEWING 101 class.

SKILLS LEARNED • following a pattern, sewing straight lines, sashiko stitching

MATERIALS REQUIRED • all materials are included in the class fee; kids are welcome to bring their own sewing machine or use the Cattywampus machines
